Cotonou Roundtable for the Global Nutrition Report

On February 19, 2015 a roundtable on the 2014 Global Nutrition Report was held in Benin Royal Hotel in Cotonou, Benin. The fruitful discussions at the Cotonou roundtable highlighted that the Republic of Benin has created an enabling environment for the development of the nutrition sector, through the operationalisation of the National Council for Food and Nutrition (CAN) and of the Strategic Food and Nutrition Development Plan (PSDAN). However, more efforts are needed, in particular in the areas of leadership, implementation of innovative financing models in favor of actions on the ground, capacity building on nutrition information systems, governance and accountability.Benin

Many key actors of the nutrition community of Benin, Togo and the West-African sub-region participated actively in the roundtable, as well as technical and financial partners (FAO, WHO, UNICEF, WFP, UNFPA, the World Bank, Action Against Hunger, GIZ, the Swiss Cooperation, local and international non-governmental organisations). This event was co-organised by the National Council for Food and Nutrition and the Faculty of Agronomic Sciences of the University of Abomey-Calavi, with the technical and financial support of the Secretariat for the 2014 Global Nutrition Report, FAO, UNICEF, WHO and WFP.
