About the role
We are looking to recruit two Senior Data Scientists on a full-time, fixed-term contract for 12 months. The post-holders will provide data science and analytical expertise as part of the Global Nutrition Report. One role will look at providing expertise on the Nutrition Accountability Framework, and the other will work on Country Nutrition Profiles.
The post-holders will be accountable for the delivery of all data and analytical elements of the Country Nutrition Profiles and Nutrition Accountability Framework respectively, and will work under the guidance and oversight of the Independent Expert Group (IEG) Chair and designated IEG members as appropriate.
The role will involve developing, managing and maintaining large and heterogeneous datasets, as well as developing all necessary methods and protocols to support this. Alongside the responsibility for data management and quality, the post-holders will apply rigorous statistical methods to process, analyse and evaluate nutrition commitments and policies, develop data visualisations and provide clear narrative reports.
We are looking for two experienced data scientists with a background relevant to this area of research – that is, epidemiology, biostatistics and/or public health, especially in population-based nutrition data and indicators.
You must have a superior ability to understand the concepts of data storage, data warehouses and data lakes, query data from databases, perform data wrangling and data preparation, along with knowledge of R, Python or other related programming language.
We would love to see candidates with a strong drive for results. It would be an advantage to your application to have existing awareness of or links with the Global Nutrition Report and knowledge of or contacts within the nutrition environment.
Early applications are highly encouraged; we will be reviewing submissions as they arrive, and interviews will be held periodically. As we are recruiting on a rolling basis, we reserve the right to end recruitment without notice.
If you would like to contribute to increasing the impact of a dynamic organisation committed to ending poverty, we would love to hear from you. Please download and read the full recruitment packs and apply on our online application portal.
As part of your application, please include a CV, a personal statement detailing how your skills, experience and long-term career goals contribute to your candidacy, one or two letters of reference from a professor, prior supervisor or other professional familiar with your abilities and experience, and an official copy of academic transcript(s).
