2021 Global Nutrition Report Virtual Launch

We will be proudly launching the 2021 Global Nutrition Report: The state of global nutrition.

This will be a key moment ahead of the Tokyo Nutrition for growth (N4G) Summit in December, in which we will share the latest comprehensive picture of the state of global nutrition.

The 2021 Global Nutrition Report will show that poor diets and resulting malnutrition in all its forms continue to be unacceptably high across the world and will outline key challenges in meeting global ambitions for healthy, sustainable diets that put an end to malnutrition and preserve the planet.

The launch will begin with opening remarks by Dr Renata Micha, Chair of the GNR’s Independent Expert Group (IEG).

Following Dr Micha’s opening remarks, IEG members will present the report’s key findings, areas for action and highlight the importance of better tools for commitment-making and strengthened accountability for nutrition:

- Dr Mariachiara Di Cesare, Professor of Population Studies & Global Health at Middlesex University, UK- Dr Marco Springmann, Senior Researcher in Environmental Sustainability and Public Health at the University of Oxford, UK- Meera Shekar, Global Lead for nutrition at the World Bank- Dr Shibani Ghosh, Research Associate Professor at the Friedman School of Nutrition Science and Policy at Tufts University, US

Representatives from key constituencies including donors and civil society will also share their unique perspectives on what the GNR means for their sectors, and will speak to the report’s significance beyond the nutrition community

Concluding remarks will be made by the Government of Japan as the organiser of the N4G Summit (TBC). The findings from the 2021 Global Nutrition Report will reinforce the need to invest in nutrition and register bold, SMART commitments ahead of the Tokyo N4G Summit in December.
