‘Hidden hunger and the transformation of food systems: How to combat the double burden of malnutrition?’ – also known as the 4th International Congress Hidden Hunger – will take place in Stuttgart. The event is part of an international series of events called ‘Congress Hidden Hunger’, which started in 2013. The congress will bring together the scientific community, representatives from politics, government and the media as well as members of civil society organisations, advocacy groups and private and public sector bodies to talk about the double burden of malnutrition. This is defined as the coexistence of undernutrition along with overweight, obesity or diet-related non-communicable diseases.
The event will review the existing evidence on the double burden of malnutrition and will present new research findings on the topic. The event seeks to find innovative strategies to tackle the burden and to discuss the roles of governments, civil society organisations, development organisations and the private sector play in dealing with it.
