Nutrition funding cuts: What is being lost, and what can be rebuilt?
Good nutrition supports health, human capital and economic prosperity, making it central to sustainable development. Yet reductions in humanitarian and development funding across several major donors are placing essential nutrition services and the systems that sustain them under increasing strain. Drawing on a March–April 2026 survey conducted by the Global Nutrition Report (GNR) and the Collective Action Plan for Nutrition Data (ACTION DATA), with responses from 409 stakeholders across 74 countries, this brief explores what is being lost, the risks of continued cuts, and the actions needed to prevent lasting damage.
