Equip community midwives with the skills and competences needed to support women to improve maternal outcomes and baby-health and nutrition outcomes
Description
Action for Development (AfD) applies on an annual basis to relevant calls for proposals to ensure the necessary amount of funds can be accumulated for its programmes. Once applications are approved and contracts are signed, the activities convert into field action plans that are disseminated at local levels through various meetings and discussions. The project staff work closely with the communities to ensure their awareness of activities and alignment of objectives. Once the programme execution starts, the reports ensure that activities are being reported to the head office as well as to the donors.

Title
AfD commitment
Description
AfD will bear an active role in decreasing poverty in Afghanistan. With this specific goal, AfD will focus on the provision of food and nutrients to children through ‘food for education’ initiatives to ensure that street-working children have their basic nutrition needs covered whilst attaining literacy and numeracy. Additionally, through health education and health service provision, AfD will engage in raising knowledge of community members in Afghanistan on breastfeeding, young child feeding practices through training midwives and health educators as well as reducing anaemia among mothers and young girls. Furthermore, AfD will remain committed to advocating and collaborating with the main stakeholders on strengthening food development schemes, employment opportunities for youth and safety nets for women-headed families in Afghanistan.
