Description
The action plan considers the development of two strategic pillars: a permanent scientific research program and the creation of educational content for the Salvadoran population on health and human development issues.
Based on both strategic pillars, the following actions will be executed:
1) Design a Research Program that provides technical-scientific evidence to influence public policies on Breastfeeding, Food Security and its determinants at national and local level.
2) Design and implement comprehensive interventions to promote best practices in feeding and nutrition, encouraging behavioral changes in the families.
3. Educational programs designed for children and adults to strengthen families on the framework of rights related to breastfeeding and food security.
4. Educational programs for the population to strengthen the knowledge of consumers on the application of the Code of Marketing of Breastmilk Substitutes.
5. Implement communication campaigns through different media for behavioral change and good practices in health, breastfeeding and food safety.
6. Creation and strengthening of networks of strategic allies for the implementation of community interventions and advocacy (media, universities, civil society organizations, government or others).
7. Design and management of projects that contribute to the solution of the determinants of breastfeeding and food security, including those related to early childhood care.
8. Support for the national strategy of Human Milk Banks and territorial support networks as a strategy to promote breastfeeding.
