Increase the number of nutrition sensitive social protection programs.
Description
By 2030, the Cabinet Division, in collaboration with the Ministries of Women and Children Affairs (MoWCA), Social Welfare (MoSW) and Health and Family Welfare, relevant divisions and departments, the Bangladesh National Nutrition Council and development partners, commits to increase the number of social protection programmes which include a nutrition-related objective and indicator from 12 in 2025 to 21.
The initiative will enhance the nutrition and gender sensitivity of nine new social protection programmes. In addition, it will enhance the nutrition sensitivity of the existing 12 programmes. This may entail high-level advocacy and technical support for 1) expansion of beneficiary numbers within the targeted nutrition-sensitive SSPs and 2) where possible, topping up the benefit size along with intensive nutrition education for families with malnourished children.
The Cabinet Division, along with MoWCA and MoSW, will coordinate and monitor progress. The estimated additional cost is BDT 120 million, to be mobilised from public funds and development partners.
