Description
Regarding farm productivity assistance, one farmers' organisation per province will be provided with technology transfer training, coupled with agri-technology starter kits consisting of good-quality seeds, fertiliser, pesticides, farm tools and implements such as a sprayer, sprinkler, rake, wheelbarrow, hose, pail, etc. This will be used for the communal production of vegetables, which is intended to meet the nutritional requirements of the farming households and other consumers. This will likewise generate income for the farmers and the organisation through the marketing of surplus produce. The agri-technology starter kits will be used to establish a 5,000m2 communal garden, to be used as a demonstration farm to showcase the engagement of farmers in a diversified, market-led vegetable production system. This also may promote knowledge acquisition and sharing of appropriate agricultural technology among other farmers and nearby urban dwellers who are deprived of a sustained food supply.
For marketing assistance and facilitation of credit assistance to farmers' organisations, if there is surplus production or if the organisation is able to engage in successive crop cycles through loans accessed for the purpose, the activities related to marketing assistance and other preparatory activities – such as product supply planning, preparation of market plan and test marketing of product surplus – will be conducted by the Department of Agrarian Reform. The farmers' organisations will be encouraged to put up a revolving fund to buy seeds and other farm inputs for the succeeding planting cycles.

Title
Life in the Vegetable Project
Description
In general, the project is a response/counter to the effects of the lingering global Covid-19 pandemic, specifically in minimising the disruption to food supply due to the mobility restrictions; augmenting the daily vegetable requirement and source of income of the community, especially women who are agrarian reform beneficiaries and their families; and changing people’s mindset on the productive utilisation of vacant spaces.
