Description

The ministries responsible for Agricultures, Health, Social Development; Food and Nutrition Council and Scaling Up Nutrition Networks in Zimbabwe commits to reduce the prevalence of child undernutrition especially stunting and wasting. The interventions will include contribute to the multisectoral food and nutrition security strategies and policies to ensure access to safe, nutritious diets in an healthy environment which promotes optimal, care and practices. Care groups will be established to increase coverage of the community based platforms that promoted positive behaviours led by trained champions. The Multisectoral Community based Model will be expended to all districts to ensure the subnational structures are capacitated on this bottom-up approach aimed at addressing drivers of stunting and other malnutrition issues at local level. The communities will be at the centre of solutions tailor-made to address the context-specific drivers of the nutrition insecurity and multisectoral microplans will be developed as guided by available data. These plans inform national level priority areas providing a diverse loop of informed decision making. National Multisectoral Food and Nutrition Strategy will be reviewed and strengthened to include the emerging and identified priority areas in line with National Development Plans. Each sector will include the high impact, low cost interventions aimed at addressing the various drivers of the nutrition insecurity with routine monitoring and reporting done at all levels. Mentorship , periodic meetings and interdistrict learning will form part of the knowledge and documentation exercises.
