Conduct Preliminary Research Evaluating the Impact of a Workplace Food Program

Private sector non-food business / United States of America

March 2025 — February 2026

Description

Food at Google and Global Employee Health are partnering on a research project to evaluate the impact of the Google Food Program on employee mental health, wellness, productivity and sense of belonging.

The Workforce Nutrition Alliance Scorecard has been used to evaluate key aspects of the Food at Google program, including healthy food offerings, nutrition education and the program's broader impact on employee well-being. However, the broader impact of the food program on employee health and wellness has not been rigorously studied. Understanding the tangible benefits of such programs is essential for program measurement and growth. The commitment aims to fill that gap by building on the insights from the Workforce Nutrition Alliance Scorecard to conduct preliminary research exploring the impact of the Food at Google program. The commitment offers a clear, data-driven approach to understanding the aspects that drive Google’s long-term success: employee well-being, productivity and employee engagement. Progress will be monitored annually, with a target date of Q1 2026 to assess initial progress and allocate resources if necessary.

SMART GOAL: Food at Google and Global Employee Health will conduct preliminary research exploring the impact of the Google Food Program on employee mental health, wellness, productivity and sense of belonging by the end of Q1 2026.

By the end of Q1 2026, the broader intervention and measurement approach will be summarised in a report (including an executive summary, detailed analysis, insights, methodological appendices, data analyses and findings) and will include a recommendation for a more resource-intensive study across multiple sites globally.
