Government / Mozambique

July 2025 — December 2030

Description

The Mozambique government commits to operationalising the Food and Nutrition Security Strategy (PESAN) 2024–2030 at all levels – horizontally, at central level across sectors, and vertically, at subnational level (provinces and districts) – to ensure full and effective implementation. To this end, the government will ensure that on an annual basis, each sector, province and district will plan, budget and implement at least three PESAN priority actions, which will be included in the PESAN monitoring and evaluation framework, targeting and with impact on the nutritional status of adolescents, women of reproductive age, pregnant and breastfeeding women and children under 5 years of age in particular.

Key actions include:

• Each sector to annually identify priority actions from the PESAN monitoring and evaluation framework.

• Update/review the PESAN monitoring and evaluation framework following the restructuring of sectors currently underway with the new government (2025). To ensure effective implementation and monitoring of these actions, the Mozambique government will assess sector, provincial and district semester and annual progress reports (PESOEs/ PESODs), as well as review progress on key PESAN indicators in the national information systems.
