Development of a nutrition platform/ information system

Description

The Government of Mozambique, under the leadership of SETSAN, and in collaboration with different entities including the National Statistics Institute (INE), the National Agency for Geo-Spatial Development (ADE), the National Institute of Electronic Governance, (INAGE), Ministry of Communication and Digital Transformation (MCTD), commits to developing the National Food Security and Nutrition Information System (SNISAN) by the fourth quarter of 2025, and its operationalization at all levels (central, provincial, district) by December 2026, with the objective of informing decision-making processes.

Key actions include:

At technical level

• SNISAN is functional at all levels (central, provincial, districts)

• Finalize the development of monitoring analytical models for food security and nutrition status

• Finalize the development of mapping and monitoring model for the PESAN operational plans

• Develop operational procedure for data collection, organization and analysis (i.e. feeding analytical models)

• Definition and acquisition of the software architecture (ArcGIS, Tableau, etc.) and necessary engineering for the functioning of the system

• Establishing linkages/ interoperability with other existing and relevant information systems

Strategic level

Mobilize technical assistance support for the operationalization of SNISAN.

The means of verification will be the existence of an active and accessible SINSAN platform/ system.
