Reduce chronic malnutrition in children under five to 30% or below

Description

The Government of Mozambique, led by the Technical Secretariat for Food Security and Nutrition (SETSAN), in coordination with the key ministries (including agriculture, health, public works, social action, education and economy amongst others) involved in the Food and Nutrition Security Strategy PESAN 2024-2030), commits to reducing chronic malnutrition in children under five from 37 per cent in 2022 to at least 30% or below by 2030.

Key actions include:

• the operationalization of PESAN in all provinces and districts in the country;

• strengthening the implementation of high-impact nutrition actions in a coordinated and holistic manner, with a greater focus on the provinces with the highest prevalence of stunting in the country;

• strengthening advocacy actions to increase state budget allocation high-impact nutrition interventions.

To ensure effective implementation and monitoring of these actions, the Government of Mozambique will assess semester and annual progress reports, as well as review progress on key PESAN indicators in the national information systems.
