Description

The draft bill for the regulation of the processed and ultra-processed food products will be put forward for approval by the National Congress of the Republic. This law should include at least three of the following: restrictions over advertising aimed at children under 14, the introduction of clear nutritional information on food labels, the reformulation of certain foods, the implementation of additional taxes and regulation governing educational environments and food in schools. A technical team will be set up, supported by government bodies, with the support of the education sector, grass-roots associations, international cooperation and United Nations agencies. This technical committee will provide support for the delegated Commission within the National Congress of the Republic (Health Commission or the Parliamentary Body Against Hunger) throughout the process. The process will run from formulation of the draft law right up to its approval and publication in the Official Gazette.

Reducing the incidence of excess weight

Description

The objective of the Nutrition Action Plan, unveiled as part of the National Food and Nutrition Security Policy and Strategy-PyENSAN 2030, is to end all forms of malnutrition and address lifelong nutritional needs. The plan has a particular focus on undernourishment, chronic malnutrition, growth retardation, wasting, underweight and overweight children under the age of 5, and anaemia in women and children, among other micronutrient deficiencies, as well as halting the upward trend of excessive weight and obesity and reducing the burden of diet-related non-communicable diseases across all age groups.
