Driving Nutrition-Sensitive Food Systems by 2030
Description
Honduras has a legal and political framework that allows it to align efforts in an articulated manner through the National Food Security Policy and Strategy (2018-2030) and the State Policy for the Agri-Food Sector of Honduras (2023-2043), which seeks to promote economic, social and environmental improvement in a sustainable and inclusive way. The Policy represents the reality of producers of the main sectors in Honduras with contributions from actors from the public and private sectors and civil society linked to the agri-food sector. It also has a wide portfolio of programs and projects to support small and medium-sized producers and entrepreneurs for which technical assistance is provided, strengthening productive infrastructure and access to financing. Linking producers and consumers to reduce the intermediation chain and facilitate the improvement of producers' incomes and improvement of the quantity and quality of food demanded by consumers. The country's dietary guide has been updated with the aim of promoting a complete, healthy, varied and culturally acceptable diet for the population, in order to prevent malnutrition in childhood and chronic non-communicable diseases in young people and adults, as well as various projects and strategic programs that contribute to food security.
