Commitment

Canada will promote gender equality at all nutrition convening opportunities

Government / Canada

January 2022 — December 2025

Description

Guided by our Feminist International Assistance Policy, Canada has been very vocal on this issue and will continue to leverage its influence as a global nutrition leader to champion gender-transformative approaches in nutrition programming at all convening opportunities. Each time Canada participates in or conducts a nutrition-specific or nutrition-related stakeholder meeting – be it nationally, regionally, or globally – it will promote gender-transformative actions, policies and plans for nutrition.

Title

Policy on gender-responsive nutrition

Description

Guided by its Feminist International Assistance Policy, Canada is committed to improving nutrition for the world’s poorest and most marginalised – especially women and girls – by enhancing access to nutritious food, micronutrients and comprehensive nutrition services that address acute malnutrition and contribute to supporting nutrition-sensitive food systems. Going forward, Canada will prioritise nutrition projects that integrate gender-equality considerations to prevent malnutrition in all its forms and commit to promoting gender equality at all convening opportunities.
