Description

500 Community Health Workers will be capacitated and deployed for targeted Outreach Programmes in the severely affected regions of Omaheke, Ohangwena, Kunene, Kavango West and Omusati. Progressed will be assessed using the District Health Information System and the Second Harambee Prosperity Plan Programme Delivery Unit monthly meetings.

Targeted outreach to treat malnutrition

Description

The Namibia Ministry of Health and Social Services commits to intensify the identification of malnourished children, pregnant and lactating women and adults for malnutrition treatment, and nutrition education in 5 years (from 1 January 2022 through 31 December 2025). This will be achieved by deployment of 500 Community Health Workers for targeted Outreach Programmes in the severely affected regions of Omaheke, Ohangwena, Kunene, Kavango West and Omusati. Progressed will be assessed using the District Health Information System and the Second Harambee Prosperity Plan Programme Delivery Unit monthly meetings. NAD 161 million (± 11 million USD) annually have been secured by the government to cover the associated costs.
