Fight against food insecurity
Description
Many of the Central African’s food producers are unable to provide themselves with adequate nutrition and often have reduced or no access to food productive assets and other production resources.
In this context, the government has continued to prioritize actions aimed at improving agricultural and livestock productivity and production in order to revive the economy, increase rural incomes, and improve the population's food and nutrition security. This project is in line with the priorities of the Central African government's National Sustainable Development Plan 2024-2028 (PNDD), which aims to increase rural incomes and improve the population's food and nutrition security by improving agricultural and livestock production and rural productivity.
In RCA, where many of the food insecure depend on agriculture for a living, improvements in agricultural productivity of small-scale food producers will also be a vehicle to improve access to food, while making agriculture more resilient and sustainable will strongly influence the future availability and stability of food supplies.
The project will be implemented over two years period, from August 2025 to August 2027, in collaboration with the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development and the NGO consortium Dévéloppement, Equité, Durabilité Innovation (DEDI) and Groupement Agropastorale pour le Dévéloppement de Yongor (GADY), which will support agropastoral production and community initiatives, respectively.
The main objective of the project is to provide direct support to smallholder farmers through agricultural inputs and access to means of production.
