Number of People with improved nutrition (millions)
Description
In order to achieve this commitment, the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) has prepared a Nutrition Action Plan (NAP) (2019–2025), to be updated for the period 2026–2031. IFAD's NAP includes a number of activities at all levels of the food system. In particular, IFAD works to increase the production of nutritious food for market and self-consumption, reduce food waste and loss, promote neglected and underutilised species, improve rural infrastructure (water supply, storage, markets and roads), increase awareness of healthy diets, implement nutrition education and social and behaviour change campaigns, build capacities of stakeholders and policymakers on nutrition-sensitive agriculture at the national and local levels and support multistakeholder coordination. Special focus is on building climate resilience, gender equity and youth inclusion as well as Indigenous Peoples' food systems. IFAD will also partner with other UN agencies, civil society organisations, private sectors and research organisations.
