Commitment

Increase the prevalence of exclusive breastfeeding in children untill 6 months

Government / Tajikistan

January 2020 — December 2025

Description

The Ministry of Health and Social Protection (MOHSP) will coordinate implementation of the national communication programme on the first 1000 days, including a strong focus on communication on exclusive breastfeeding. The capacity of healthcare providers, including at maternity units, to provide breastfeeding counselling needs to be strengthened. One way to do this is to implement and scale up the Baby-Friendly Hospital Initiative (BFHI). Currently, 58 hospitals are certified to implement BFHI; the country aims to reach 70 hospitals with the initiative.
