Description

The Ministry of Health and Social Protection (MOHSP) will coordinate with partners to implement the national protocol on Integrated Management of Acute Malnutrition. Specifically, the quality of severe acute malnutrition treatment in inpatient and outpatient facilities needs to be improved. Special focus will be given to exclusive breastfeeding, timely introduction of complementary feeding and continued breastfeeding until 2 years of age and beyond. Prevention of vaccine-preventable diseases through the national routine immunisation programme will continue and be strengthened. Children under 5 years of age will be provided with vitamin A supplementation, vitamin D and folic acid and iron. The pilot of moderate acute malnutrition treatment will also be continued and scaled up.

The MOHSP of Tajikistan commits to reducing the prevalence of stunting in children under 5 years of age by approximately 40% by 2025 – from 17.5% in 2017 to 7.3% in 2025.
