South Sudan 2021 N4G Summit Commitment

We envision:

• Reducing wasting in children under 5 years of age from 16.2% in 2020 to 5% or lower by 2030.

• Reducing stunting in children under 5 years of age from 15.1% in 2020 to 10% or lower by 2030.

This will be achieved through:

• Developing food and nutrition policies.

• Developing a multisectoral Nutrition Costed Strategy.

• Developing Breastmilk Substitute (BMS) code in line with the international Code.

• Increasing nutrition budget/investment by 10% from the national budget.

These goals will be supported by the following programme activities:

• Scaling up nutrition treatment integrated with healthcare service delivery platforms.

• Improving the quality and scaling up the implementation of mother, infant and young child nutrition (MIYCN) programmes.

• Scaling up maternal, neonatal, and child health (MNCH), including the prevention and treatment of communicable diseases, including malaria.

• Strengthening food value chains that aim to improve the availability and affordability of healthy and nutritious diets.

• Strengthening shock-responsive social protection in areas with food insecurity by providing safety-net transfers to at-risk populations.

• Scaling up school health nutrition programming.

• Integrating water, sanitation and hygiene, health, social protection and gender-based violence (GBV) interventions with nutrition interventions.
