Description

Promote baby-friendly hospital initiatives at health facility (BFHI) and community (BFCI) levels. Adopt and adapt the World Health Organisation breastfeeding counselling guidance. Implement the 10 Steps to Successful Breastfeeding as the standard of care in maternities and childcare facilities. Enhance enforcement of the Breastmilk Substitutes (Regulation and Control) Act, 2012, and sections 71 and 72 of the Health Act, 2017. Facilitate Kangaroo Mother Care for low-birth-weight infants.

Description

Increase the rate of exclusive breastfeeding in the first 6 months of life from the current 61% (as per the 2014 Kenya Demographic and Health Survey) to 75% in 2025.
