Description

Establish an updated national committee for the food-based dietary guidelines and working groups across different sectors (the Ministries of Health, Agriculture and Education; academy; the food industry) to develop a road map in order to define the actions and timeline for implementing the project, following a new methodology with the food-system approach.

Publish the updated guideline, integrating all the involved sectors, aiming to ensure the implementation according to an action plan agreed, following the road map.

Description

The Dominican Republic is committed to developing and implementing sustainable healthy diet policies to provide the population and sectors related to nutrition and food systems with a regulatory framework to improve the nutritional status of the population and achieve national and global nutrition targets.

The Dominican Republic commits to:

• Develop, update and implement national food-based dietary guidelines using a life-course and food-systems approach by 2024.

• Develop and implement technical regulations and guidelines to improve access to a healthy diet in schools by 2024.

• Develop and implement a front-of-package warning labelling regulation by 2024.
