Commitment

Reduce the prevalence of stunting

Government / Chad

January 2022 — December 2025

Description

In recent years, the prevalence of stunting in Chad has remained stable at around 30%. The 2020 National SMART survey shows a prevalence at 30.5%, probably due to

a combination of factors, mainly, the poor quality of food intake due to bad Infant and Young Child Feeding (IYCF) practices (exclusive breastfeeding rate estimated countrywide at 16.4% and the minimum adequate diet at 13.6%), poor sanitation, low coverage of access to drinking water. So in response we are implementing our scale up IYCF plan.
