Commitment

100% of our primary workforce will have access to nutrition support

Private sector food business / United Kingdom

April 2022 — December 2030

Description

At ofi, we are engaging with business and sustainability leads to promote workforce nutrition, illustrate its benefits and galvanize support for workplace-level nutrition interventions to ensure that this issue is adequately addressed by our business units globally. The first step for each business unit is to conduct a baseline assessment of all of their worksites.

In 2021, the central Corporate Responsibility & Sustainability team (CR&S) began meeting individually with business and sustainability leads to introduce the workforce nutrition scorecard, which has been developed by the Workforce Nutrition Alliance. With the support of upper management, one enumerator is nominated for each of the worksites, and a CR&S representative meets with them to introduce the scorecard, support them in completing the assessment and review the results. To be considered to have an "active" workforce nutrition program, the site must achieve a minimum score in at least 2 of the 4 target action areas: Healthy food at work, Nutrition education, Breastfeeding support, and Nutrition-focused health checks. ofi intend to have all worksites complete an initial assessment by the end of 2023.

Based on the results of this initial assessment, the CR&S team works with each worksite to develop action plans to improve their workforce nutrition programs. These action plans contain concrete actions to be taken across the 4 target action areas:

Progress at each site will be evaluated on an annual basis, at least.
