Raising the institutional anchoring of nutrition

In Gabon, there are several coordination frameworks initiated by the different sectors. Each of them, through the mandate of its sector, tries to involve the other sectors in order to give itself a multisectoral dimension (SAN Platform, Scaling Up Nutrition [SUN] Gabon Alliances, etc.) with various anchors. However, the multisectoral dimension desired by these different frameworks is struggling to materialise. The multisectorality pronounced in the National Food and Nutrition Security Policy requires strong intersectoral coordination. This coordination is provided by the multisectoral platform of the SUN movement housed in the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock, but a higher institutional anchoring is needed for the platform to be under the control of a stronger and legitimate authority to mobilise all sectors involved in nutrition. We will formalise the relations between the ministries through obtaining the decree of formalisation of the multisectoral platform of nine alliances and representatives of the administration.
