Commitment

professionalizing farmers and cooperatives

Government / Gabon

January 2025 — January 2030

Description

Despite its very high agricultural potential, a rich hydrographic network and abundant rainfall, agricultural production is insufficient to cover the country's food needs, forcing the country to import, according to estimates, 60% of basic food products, especially cereals and meat products. The National Pact for Food and Agriculture in Gabon aims to transform agriculture into a business-oriented and commercially viable sector that can ensure food self-sufficiency and end food insecurity and malnutrition. In addition, improving eating habits and behaviours based on better use of local production will help improve the dietary diversity of households and reduce dependence on the outside world.
