Description

Actions that have been outlined for implementation to strengthen the multisectoral nutrition information system include:

• Enhancing the availability of nutrition-relevant data from sectoral and decentralised data systems.

• Strengthening the generation of nutrition evidence through appropriate national surveys, National Nutrition Surveys and operational research.

• Improving the quality and standards of nutrition indicators in national surveys and operational research.

• Establishing a mechanism for capturing and tracking nutrition-relevant data from the private sector.

•Conducting capacity-building for optimal multisectoral data utilisation within and across sectors.

• Implementing the comprehensive monitoring, evaluation and learning framework for the National Multisectoral Nutrition Action Plan 2021/22–2025/26.

Strengthen the Multisectoral Nutrition Information System (MNIS)

Description

Tracking progress of all interventions to tackle malnutrition requires reliable data and a well-functioning information management system. The government commits to ensure that priority sectoral ministries’ data systems are linked with the MNIS in 11 (100%) sectors by 2026 rather than the current goal of 7 sectors, with at least 2 sectors linked by 2023. The estimated budget for this commitment is TZS 2.7 billion (US$1.2 million).
