Title
Reduce low birth weight
Description
The government of the United Republic of Tanzania, in collaboration with development partners, commits to reduce the prevalence of low birth weight from 6.3% in 2018 to less than 5.0% by 2026. To reach this target, evidence-based interventions will be implemented and monitored under the National Multisectoral Nutrition Action Plan 2021/22–2025/26 (NMNAP II) framework through the health sector and nutrition-sensitive sectors (education, community development and food security). Overall, TZS 23.1 billion (US$10 million) has been budgeted for implementation of key interventions to fulfil this national commitment by 2026.
