Title

Reduce prevalence of anaemia among women

Description

Anaemia is a major national health problem in Tanzania, and a large number of women are severely affected. The government of the United Republic of Tanzania, in collaboration with development partners, commits to implement evidence-based nutrition-specific and nutrition-sensitive interventions to reduce the prevalence of anaemia among women aged 15–49 years from 28.8% to 23.0% by 2026. The interventions will be implemented, monitored and evaluated under the National Multisectoral Nutrition Action Plan 2021/22–2025/26 (NMNAP II), building on achievements and experiences gained by the health sector, other nutrition-sensitive sectors and development partners in the sustained fight against anaemia. A total of TZS 158.9 billion (US$69 million) has been budgeted under the NMNAP II to fund planned actions for reducing anaemia among women.
