• Strengthen nutrition counselling and promotion of optimal feeding and care practices to prevent severe wasting.
• Build health workers' capacity on early identification, referral and treatment of children with severe wasting.
• Ensure availability of anthropometric equipment and SAM treatment commodities.
• Integrate growth monitoring, screening, referral and treatment of SAM cases with a maternal and child health contact at health facilities and outreach sites.
• Expand the use of locally produced ready-to-use therapeutic food and ready-to-use supplementary food for the treatment of acute malnutrition.
