By 2023, the Royal Government of Cambodia will enact the Food Safety Law. The food safety law was passed on April 1 2022. The law provides the framework to improve food safety in Cambodia, from farm to fork, as well as the specifications for who/which institutions to take the lead. The lack of a law represented a major hurdle in the food control system.

By 2023, the Royal Government of Cambodia will enact the Food Safety Law. The food safety law was passed on April 1 2022. The law provides the framework for the following issues as well as the specifications for who/which insititutions to take the lead:
(A) Food shall be safe, quality and suitable for human consumption;
(B) Food shall not be imported, produced, processed or sold in fraudulent or misleading manners;
(C) Consumers receive sufficient information about food such as origin, ingredients, nutritional value and calorie amount, how to use and store;
(D) Food shall meet hygiene, packaging and labeling requirement;
(E) Food that are classified as high risk must be properly registered;
(F) Food storage or storage facilities shall meet the conditions for maintaining the safety and quality of the food;
