Description
Cambodia is home to diverse food systems and well-endowed with nutritious food. However, poor households often cannot afford this safe and nutritious food exacerbated by COVID-19 socio-economic impacts. To break the intergenerational cycle of malnutrition, the food system can contribute to (1) improving access to healthy diets by diversifying the availability of food and (2) making these foods more physically accessible.
Diversification needs to be complemented by measures to improve food safety and quality and to promote the consumption of fresh, healthy and diverse foods. Actions are operationalized in the ASDP (2019-2023), ASMP (2021-2030), Joint Monitoring Indicator of the Technical Working Group Agriculture and Water (2019-2023) reporting to the Council for the Development of Cambodia (CDC).
