Strengthening Nutrition Budget Tracking Systems in Local Communities
Description
By the end of the current Philippine Plan of Action for Nutrition (PPAN) cycle in 2028, SUN CSA Philippines commits to allocating at least PHP 100,000 to strengthen nutrition financing accountability in alignment with the Nutrition for Growth (N4G) 2025 and PPAN 2023–2028 frameworks.
This financial commitment will support initiatives that promote transparency and efficiency in nutrition financing at both local and national levels. The funds will be used to assist 5–7 Local Government Units (LGUs) in PPAN priority areas in implementing nutrition budget tracking systems consistent with national guidelines. They will also support advocacy workshops and training sessions to build the capacity of LGUs and Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) in nutrition budget allocation, tracking, and utilization.
Part of the allocation will be used for the development and dissemination of a standardized financial tracking toolkitto help CSOs monitor nutrition-related expenditures and strengthen financial transparency in program implementation. Additionally, the funds will cover the participation of SUN CSA Philippines members in national and local government-led activities that aim to strengthen nutrition financing, ensuring civil society engagement in policy discussions, budget planning, and review processes.
Through this PHP 100,000 financial commitment, SUN CSA Philippines seeks to enhance accountability and governance in nutrition financing, foster stronger collaboration with government partners, and contribute to sustained investments that lead to improved health and nutrition outcomes for Filipino communities.
