Description
The Timor-Leste government commits to improving the national food regulatory system in alignment with the World Trade Organization and Association of Southeast Asian Nations commitments to ensure safe and healthy food environments, particularly for infants and young children. Key interventions include:
• Adopting and implementing food safety and labelling regulations, including front-of-pack labelling for packaged foods and restrictions on marketing unhealthy foods targeted at young children.
• Strengthening enforcement mechanisms and building capacity within relevant regulatory bodies.
• Promoting public awareness about food safety and nutrition labelling.
