Commitment

Improve the mechanism for accountability and coordination of nutrition actions through the support of the Plateforme nationale d'information pour la nutrition - PNIN (National Nutrition Information Platform).

Government / Burkina Faso

January 2018 — December 2024

Description

The action plan will involve using the Plateforme Nationale d'Information pour la Nutrition (National Nutrition Information Platform), or PNIN, by the different sectors to ensure monitoring and evaluation in those sectors. It is necessary to ensure that the PNIN fits into a sustainability framework within the ministries' framework. The PNIN is in its phase II, which places more emphasis on governance for better ownership by the various actors. To this end, in the action plan of steering team activities, these activities are mentioned as communication activities.

Title

Commitment linked to coordination

Description

Accountability for nutrition is improved with the PNIN, as evidenced by the establishment of a data warehouse on nutrition, the creation of the website and the establishment of a platform for disseminating indicators. Seven research questions have addressed, among other things, the link between diarrhoea and drinking-water access rates from 2009 to 2019, the dynamics of chronic malnutrition in children aged 0 to 59 months from 2009 to 2019 in Burkina Faso and an additional study to explain prevalence patterns. A mobile application has also been developed. The PNIN is in its second phase, with the main objective of contributing to the achievement of the commitments and priorities of the Plan Stratégique Multisectoriel de Nutrition (Multisectoral Strategic Nutrition Plan), or PSMN, 2020–2024. The PSMN key indicator dashboard and scorecard have been developed to track the indicators.
