Increasing Dietary Diversity Score in Children Aged 6–23 Months
Description
The Burkina Faso government, through the Ministry of Health, with the support of its partners (Ministry of Humanitarian Action and technical and financial partners), is committed to raising the dietary diversity score among children aged 6–23 months who receive a minimum number of food groups from 28.9% in 2024 to 35% in 2028 by carrying out mass communication in favor of infant and young child feeding (IYCF), strengthening health club activities and performing regular cooking demonstration sessions. In addition, the following actions are essential:
• Setting up exclusive breastfeeding and complementary feeding spaces.
• Carrying out mass communication in favor of IYCF (complementary feeding).
• Supporting and strengthening the activities of the GASPA (Learning and Monitoring Groups for Infant Feeding Practices) by relying on community-based health workers.
• Strengthening the regular holding of cooking demonstration sessions (within community health clubs and in health facilities).
• Ensuring the regular follow-up of data relating to these actions.
Progress will be monitored annually through the national nutrition survey carried out by the Nutrition Directorate of the Ministry of Health.
