Scaling up nutrition treatment service for severe wasting in Health care service delivery platforms

We envisioned reducing the wasting in children under 5 years of age from 16.2% in 2020 to less than or equal to 5.0% by 2030 through scaling up nutrition treatment services for severe wasting in healthcare service delivery platforms and scaling up maternal, newborn and child health prevention and treatment of communicable diseases through the following programme activities: 1) equipping health and nutrition facilities; 2) enhancing the capacity of service providers; 3) updating guidelines and manuals; 4) enhancing the quality of nutrition services in the existing healthcare services, such as antenatal care, postnatal care and integrated management of newborn and childhood illness; 5) empowering community health workers to deliver high-impact, cost-effective health and nutrition care services in the community, such as integrated community case management for child health (including screening for malnutrition, promoting immunisation and providing prevention and treatment of malaria and diarrhoea); and 6) initiating the implementation of the revised curriculum with the nutrition guidelines to train students at universities and other institutions in the country implementation of the WHO Baby-friendly Hospital Initiative.
