Goal action plan

In a year of focus on food systems transformation, ending hunger remains a core priority. Hunger is on the rise, with conflict now the primary driver worldwide, and nearly half of all deaths of children under-five attributable to undernutrition.

Addressing hunger and malnutrition has been central to Ireland's foreign policy, and our development cooperation, for many decades.

Through working with a wide range of partners, Ireland will support innovative programming approaches for the prevention and treatment of wasting. This will include working with NGO's, think tanks, sector experts, other member states, key donor agencies and other stakeholders. A template for this approach is the development of CMAM (Community Managed Acute Malnutrition) which was piloted by Concern and funded in the initial stages by Irish Aid.

Through the Nutrition Policy Budget, Ireland will develop partnerships that bring forward both existing and innovative approaches to tackling wasting.
