1. By the end of 2013, we will increase access to an affordable variant of Horlicks (GSK’s malted-milk drink containing 12 essential vitamins and minerals, including vitamin D) through the introduction and sale of 300 million under 10-rupee sachets in India and Africa. By 2014, this will grow to more than 600 million sachets.
2. GSK has pledged to donate up to 400 million albendazole treatments per year to the WHO to treat school-age children for intestinal worms. Infection with worms contributes to malnutrition and hampers children’s development. GSK works with caterers where possible to ensure availability of healthy food choices in GSK sites and provide information to help employees make informed choices.
3. Tackling malnutrition and promoting healthy eating behaviours are key components of our work to train frontline community health workers in 34 least-developed countries.
4. PHASE (Personal Hygiene and Sanitation Education) is a schools-based approach to basic health and hygiene education, which helps children to mitigate diseases caused by inadequate water, sanitation, and hygiene.
