The Micronutrient Initiative’s strategic plan (2013-2018) commits MI to advancing integrated, innovative and sustainable solutions to reduce vitamin and mineral deficiencies with the goal of reaching hundreds of millions of women, new-borns and children every year. At the 2013 Nutrition for Growth conference, MI pledged CAD $10 million in private sector (philanthropic, corporate, etc.) funding to nutrition programs, with an emphasis on zinc supplementation.

Reported progress

NI mobilized and disbursed a total of CAD$12.1m for FY13-FY19 from the private and philanthropic sector with an emphasis on Zinc.

Note: This CAD$12.1m exceeds the original commitment of CAD$10m. Using the 2013 exchange rate, the commitment equates to US$9,337,068 and the disbursement equates to US$11,297,852
