NAF Commitment Registration

The SMART (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant and Timely)-ness of nutrition commitments depends on the quality and comprehensiveness of data provided by commitment-makers. To facilitate the formulation and registration of SMART nutrition commitments within the Nutrition Accountability Framework (NAF), we developed a Commitment Registration Form – effectively a questionnaire with a user sign-up component – with embedded guidance and detailed examples. The questions included in the form were carefully developed and designed to capture the SMART ingredients described in The SMARTness of nutrition commitments.

The first version of the form (October 2021) was piloted with number of selected participants that represented the key stakeholder groups expected to make commitments in the Nutrition Year of Action. The primary objectives of the pilot were to, on a small scale, test and refine the clarity, quality, comprehensiveness, efficiency and the feasibility of the registration form before implementing it on a large scale and converting it to a web-based interface registration form. The pilot also provided key insights into database requirements and the resources and skills required to process and analyse the commitments being registered. The 2021 NAF Platform's Commitment Registration Form is the outcome of that process. The form was recently updated to allow commitment-makers to register commitments in the NAF for the Paris Nutrition for Growth (N4G) Summit that took place in March 2025. The form outlines questions that must be answered to submit new commitment(s) into the NAF. Commitment-makers can view the online version of the NAF Commitment Registration form, but commitment registration is valid only if you sign into the NAF and complete and submit the commitment registration online survey form. The online form is accessible—once you have made an account and then signed into the NAF—from the starting page (if this your first time making a commitment) or from “Commitments” in the header menu if you have made a commitment before.
